Western Career College-Antioch Announces New Health Care Administration Program

ANTIOCH, Calif. -- Nov. 23, 2009 -- Western Career College-Antioch is now accepting applications for the nine-month Health Care Administration (HCA) program, which begins Nov. 30, 2009. The health care administration field is one of the largest and fastest growing careers in the country and job openings due are expected to grow due to the Obama administration’s push for electronic medical records and health care information exchange.

“The HCA program places heavy emphasis on administration, with a concentration in a variety of office skills including medical records, word processing, letter writing, patient scheduling and other administrative functions,” said Jennifer Pereira, instructor of the HCA program.  “Upon graduating from the certificate program, students can find employment at hospitals, physician’s offices, clinics or health insurance companies.”

Located at 2157 Country Hills Dr., Antioch, new classes for the HCA program begin every six weeks. Qualified students need a high school diploma, GED or may be eligible to enroll without a diploma under the Ability to Benefit (ATB) program. Students wanting to continue their education following the HCA certificate program may register for the Associate of Science in Health Care Administration, an online degree program.
